Individual Psychotherapy

I work with both teens (13+) and adults of any age. Individual therapy is personalized to you: your goals, your readiness for change, what approaches you find most helpful, etc. Where ever you find yourself in your journey, it is my job to do my best to understand you and your values, to be curious about what changes you want to make, and seek feedback regularly about how I am doing as your therapist.

First and foremost, I am a trauma-informed narrative therapist at heart. That means I approach therapy from a strengths-based ("building on what is strong, not what is wrong"), non-pathologizing (people as separate from problems), and collaborative perspective. It also means I have a deep understanding of the ways past experiences shape our views of ourselves and the world, and how trauma impacts one's nervous system. In session, I often incorporate ideas from mindfulness, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and inner-child work.

Past clients of mine have reported progress in the following areas:

  • Improved self-worth/ self-image

  • Improved interpersonal skills (e.g. assertiveness, setting boundaries, building trust)

  • Self-forgiveness or self-acceptance

  • A greater sense of meaning or purpose in life

  • A decrease in problematic symptoms (e.g. flashbacks, nightmares, disordered eating, people-pleasing, rumination, intrusive negative thoughts, general anxiety)

If any of this sounds like what you are looking for from personal therapy,
