Couples Therapy

My approach to couples therapy is informed by my training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). EFCT is experiential, attachment-informed, and views emotion as the target of change. Experiential means the work happens in session as we understand, slow down, and shift the negative cycles of communication you and your partner are stuck in. Attachment-informed means we use attachment theory to understand the templates for connection each partner brings to the relationship. We acknowledge those sticky learned patterns from early parent-child relationships and/or past significant romantic relationships.
In couples therapy, my client is your relationship. My ultimate goal is to make closeness and connection feel safer, to de-escalate conflict, and allow both of you to communicate openly and vulnerably with one another.
